Divine G, imprisoned in Sing Sing for a crime he didn’t commit, finds purpose in this story about resilience, humanity, and the transformative power of art while performing in a theater group with other incarcerated men. a film in which actors try out for various parts of the play. The group has been criticized for not doing comedy, but their previous play was A Midsummer Night’s Dream, which is a comedy.

In Late Night with Seth Meyers: Anna Faris/ Colman Domingo/ Jose Medeles (2024). This movie made me cry, smile, laugh, and feel really good. I feel like it’s a movie about humanity.
I love the hope this movie made me feel
People are just people at the end of the day. I’m not sure if I would have chosen to see this movie in theaters, but I was just blown away by how beautiful the movie is. I don’t know anything about awards and when those decisions are made.
The characters seem so real and are completely lovable
I would be absolutely shocked if this movie didn’t make it to the board. I was so surprised when I learned more about the actors at the end of the movie, and it made me cry even more. Happy tears.
Hope feels good
I loved that the characters were raw in their performances, and I just can’t say that enough. This movie is big and feels so important.
